Overview
The Bay-breasted Warbler (Setophaga castanea) is a small migratory songbird known for its rich chestnut-colored sides, crown, and throat in breeding plumage, along with a cream-colored neck patch. During migration and winter, it appears much duller, often olive-green and buff, making identification more challenging. It breeds in northern coniferous forests and migrates through much of eastern North America on its way to Central and South America.
